About Me
Hi my name is Lauryn Grey, and I am a software engineering student attending Western Governors University. I am a part of the Accelerated Bachelor of Science, Software Engineering (BSSWE to MSSWE) program, which means I am currently working on my Bachelor's (projected graduation December 2026) and completing some graduate work while doing so to have my Master's by June 2027.
I love the outdoors and am a firm believer that touching grass, smelling dirt, and feeling sunshine on my cheeks is the secret to joy. Some hobbies of mine include: hiking, film photography, snowboarding, knitting, and pickup games of basketball.I grew up in Kennewick WA with my parents, two little sisters and grandmother, plus we had two cats full of attitude. Now I live with my wife and our two huskies who are the most playful energetic rascals I've ever met, they like to keep us on our toes :)
I also love everything sports (especially basketball, volleyball, american football, fastpitch softball, and soccer) even though I disagree about the legitimacy of the offside rule. My unpopular opinion is that the offside call is a punishment for USWNT players *cough Trinity Rodman and Sofia Wilson cough* for being much faster than everyone else, just let them win.
I am most passionate about the work I do when I am helping people, connecting with them, and learning their life stories. I feel like this can often be forgotten in the tech industry and staying people focused is something I will always be most passionate about. I am wicked smart and a quick learner. When facing a problem, the process of learning how to fix it honestly is my favorite part.Yes yes, the resolution at the very end is always satisfying, but I feel the most fulfilled when I am either learning new content or learning ways to be more efficient with existing material. There is no feeling in the world that is quite like the one I get when I have the opportunity to learn something new, like the air of possibility on a college campus tour for high school juniors and seniors.
